C if for Courageous

Courageous Encouragement Cards
C if for Courageous

What does it mean to be courageous? You might think of a big strong warrior guy as being courageous in a perilous situation. Certainly the military person is courageous. Overcoming fear, a debilitating sickness, stepping out of your comfort zone, standing up for someone is courageous. The point is, there is always something that will require courage.

“Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go." Joshua 1:9

This truth tells us God gives us strength and courage to overcome. We should not fear. To be fearful or thinking about what if... gets us into a negative mindset, which then leads to the opposite of courage, (being discouraged). His promise is that He is always with us. When you break it down that is really quite a promise.

A lot of people really struggle with being able to talk about Jesus and share their faith. What are the consequences of not saying anything? Risking eternity, or saying something and getting turned down or laughed at. One of my friends compared when he dies to one of the first electronic games called “Pong”. He said when he dies, he is pretty sure that he will be like the ball in the pong game, where God says, “I don't want you.” and hits him with the racket, sending my friend down. The devil says, “I don't want you.” hits him with the racket, sending him back and forth. Though I laughed at this somewhat funny picture, the reality is that God loves him so much and would not send him away. For me, it is very clear. My friend has such a great personality that I can't imagine eternity with out him. It's important to take that courageous step and plant the seed. All that's needed is a seed the size of a mustard seed. Then, God will do the rest. I might have enough courage to plant a mustard seed in his life, I sure am glad mustard seeds are small! Be strong and courageous.

  1. It is a comfort to know that we don't have to depend on ourselves for courage; God will ALWAYS be with us to give us what we need!
